 US company looking for Goan actor/actress for their American TV series

Doha, Qatar:  A Goan actor making his or her way to the American TV series in the near future is a distinct possible. Thanks in a measure to the USA based Cpics original TV Series which is looking for Goan talent based in the Land of Opportunities.

The hunt to find the actors/ actresses for the TV series started at full speed last month. Leading the search for Goan talent in the USA is California-based Cuncolim-born Milroy Goes.

Milroy, who works as Production Assistant, reporting directly to the Producer, and as Digital Imaging Technician has set the ball rolling for the talent search.

“Good News for Goans in America. I have to tell you that American Cpics Original TV Series will have a Goan Character in their next TV series.  For sure there is none in Hollywood now ( Goan actor/Actress), but we are the first ones to introduce Goan in TV Series. There has been always an Indian Character but never a Goan,” Milroy said in his post on twitter and facebook

“My job is to hunt down Goan here who have previously worked in films or are skilled actors/actresses. I kept this Character open (either Male or Female - age group of 28-50s) as we are unaware what kind of Goan Talent is here in the USA,” he added.

Explaining further he said: “Last night my colleague Paul explained to me the type of Characters which are in his script and which one can be made into Goan. We have figured out and re-wrote the character.  He or She will have few Konkani lines or words, we will make sure the character carries a very Goan ethnicity, Goan-European accent.

Milroy has called those interested in pushing themselves into the role in the American TV series to get in touch with him.

“If you know someone, living in the USA or moved to the USA. Please tell them to write to me with their headshots and a short introduction video in English including contact details, social media handles and resume,” he said in his post.

“For now we are looking for Goan Actors/Actresses living in the USA, once we know the good list of them. In one or two months’ time we have an audition. So till then we will have to wait for more details of the path setting project,” he said.

 “It’s not a film, it’s a TV Series, it’s in English. It’s an American TV Show, just one character will be shown as Goan,” he adds.

Milroy, who moved to California July this year, already has a few directorial projects to his name including Welcome M1LL10NS, which was eligible for the 91st Academy Awards in Best Picture Academy Award but was not nominated in any categories. He has grand plans to produce his own Hollywood film next year but those plans are kept aside for the TV series.

“I’ll be Directing Feature film in 2023 for Cpics. This year I am working in the core production. I’ve worked as Asst Director on a TV Series as my first Job, and then another TV Series with Filmmakers Shayan Sharmahd and Paul, we just finished filming the Season 1, all for the Cpics,” Milroy said, who is known for directing music videos for A R Rehman’s singer Shashaa Tirupati for major record labels in India.

“Long before I could introduce a Goan in my film here in Hollywood we will introduce one in the American TV Series,” he said.

Milrloy said it has been a thrilling and learning experience for him ever since he moved to America.

“Everyone here are so very kind. I get to learn at the same time from the Industry professionals,” said Milroy, who was the first to introduce digital cinema in Goa with his debut theatrical film The Victim.

Cpic, for the records, is a new subscription streaming outlet specializing in rich and eclectic South Asian films, television shows, series, and documentaries which will put South Asian interest in the forefront and create a diverse presence on screen.
